You’ve seen it on TV – guys fighting to near death in cages until they ‘tap out’ or the ref calls the fight off for fear that one of the fighters will die. Who are those fighters? They aren’t ninjas, kung fu masters, karate kids or boxers; rather, these fighters – the best fighters in hand-to-hand combat – are trained in a variety of martial arts, and employ movements and elements from many different disciplines in order to compete to be the ultimate fighter.

Because these fighters incorporate elements of different martial arts – among them karate, tae kwon do, judo, aikido, crab maga, muay tai, jiu jitsu, and others – they are commonly refer to as ‘mixed martial artists’ because they practice a variety of martial arts and mix and match moves and techniques from each one in order to put an opponent (or attacker) into submission.

Though mixed martial art styles are generally the product of years of training in a variety of individual martial arts — through which students can assemble the moves that they have mastered from each in order to form a fluid fighting style – many martial arts institutes or martial arts academies in Dallas offer mixed martial arts training that will enable students to not only defend themselves in a fight, but also enable them to begin training to compete in Dallas MMA tournaments. The Dallas MMA scene is surprisingly large, and there are a wide variety of tournaments and special events – lectures and demonstrations – geared towards the interests of students studying mixed martial arts techniques in Dallas classes.

Practicing MMA also has numerous advantages beyond giving the student the knowledge necessary to defend him or herself in the unlikely event that he or she is attacked. Regular practice of mixed martial arts or attendance of an MMA class will instill discipline inasmuch as it is a commitment that a student has to oblige. What’s more, with greater discipline and with noticeable progress being made class after class, it won’t be long until students feel better about themselves, have a higher sense of self-worth – a benefit that is truly priceless. And lastly, since mixed martial arts are rigorous and require consistent training, a student will likely experience increased fitness and thus improve his or her overall health by practicing mixed martial arts. So all in all, you don’t just have to watch MMA on TV anymore – there are many MMA options in Dallas that are worth checking out if you’re interested.

In the growing world of cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening is a very sought after procedure. Generally valued by men and women both alike, whitening (or bleaching) treatments can be available to satisfy every budget, time frame and temperament.

Whether it is in the form of a one-hour bleaching session at your dentist’s office, or in home use bleaching kits purchased at your local Wal-Mart or drug store, teeth whitening solutions are very popular. However, only 15 percent of the population has tried the cosmetic procedure, and what is more, misinformation on the subject is everywhere.

The whole idea of it is that teeth whitening does work. Virtually every person who opts to do this cosmetic treatment will see moderate to substantial improvement in the brightness and whiteness of his or her smile. However, teeth’s whitening is not a permanent solution and will require maintenance or touch-ups for a lasting effect.

Bleaching vs. Whitening, What is the Difference?

According to the FDA, the term bleaching is permitted and to only be used when the teeth need to be whitened beyond their natural color. This will apply strictly to products that contain bleach, typically hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.

However, the term whitening, on the other hand, can refer to restoring a tooth’s surface color by removing all dirt and debris. Therefore, any product that will clean (like a toothpaste) would be considered a whitener. Of course, the term whitening sounds much better than bleaching, so it will be more frequently used even when describing products that do contain bleach.

Do you have a company that provides freelance copywriting services and effective marketing messaging to build a brand and reach a specific targeted audience? There are many companies with many years of experience in marketing consulting and copywriting. Many companies will also have a wide array of experience and a depth of understanding that will continue to serve your client base. Whether Punchy, elegant or informative, many copywriters are distinguished by solid experience in marketing. These companies will understand the business process and the words that are chosen are crafted to resonate with what your customer base is expecting. Most companies will provide polished, persuasive and to the point copywrite.

The secret of course, is in understanding what will move your potential client to take action. A clever ad headline is a great catcher, but will it communicate what your clients want to hear? Will it grab their attention and not let go? Will it gently take their face into both hands; look them straight into their eyes and say, “This is so important”? The most persuasive messages are those that produce a WOW Moment: the instant the customer understands that you get it, is when you have it.

Freelance Copywriters will work with advertising agencies, designers and public relations firms. Most clients will be very perceptive managers who understand that their strength will lie in focusing on what they do best. They will usually have neither the time nor the resources to write effective and engaging copy. This is where a freelance copywriter can help.

First, listen to a potential client. Then ask questions about there goals and how you can achieve those goals for them. What are your methods for success? Tell them about your customer’s perspective. From the customer’s point of view, what is the problem they need to solve?

Blanc de blanc or rosé? Vintage or non-vintage? Brut or demi? If none of these terms make sense to you, then you probably would have a tough time getting the best deal on champagne. Though true champagne can only be produced in a tiny region of France, the gallimaufry of terms ascribed to it are enough to make any reveler’s head spin. That’s why if you’re ever in the situation of having to give champagne as a gift, it’s best to leave it to the experts. Don’t cop out by buying the standby “yellow label,” which, for the money, is a far worse deal than it’s rose-labeled (and more expensive) older sibling: enlist the help of someone who has been giving gifts to wine lovers and those in need of congratulations for a long time – someone who knows the ins and outs, the hows and whys of wine.

A good way to enlist the help of these experts – especially if you want to save time buying gifts – is to find an online gift basket store that puts together nice champagne gift baskets. These companies have usually been in the business for years and are experts when it comes to choosing the right assortment of goodies to include with a bottle of bombastic bubbly. Be it a bottle of VC Rosé or a bottle of the much sought-after Kristal, a good gift basket will contain all that’s needed to enjoy it and more: fine stems, an opener (if necessary), a foil cutter, along with some treats – for champagne, perhaps a mild goat milk cheese – and these companies specialize in putting this altogether. Not only that, but shipping wine, and especially champagne, which is so bubbly – can be a nightmare for both you and the recipient: for you because it’s such a hassle to pack, and for the recipient because many shippers will not take extra care with a package that isn’t shipped from a good customer that pays good money to ensure that their champagne gift baskets get to where they’re supposed to be going without being exposed to extreme heat or agitation, which can cause the champagne not only to go flat, but could also potentially cause the bottle to explode.

So if you’re in the market for the best congratulations gift or a gift that simply says “thank you” in a very big (and luxurious) way, look to online gift basket company to make your life easier and make the day of the recipient a special one.

In this soft economy, many college graduates are opting to take hiatuses rather than take jobs that they feel undervalue their skill set, never mind the cost of their education. But with parents often just as strapped for cash as little Johnny or Sue, the post-college trip – once funded by graduation money or signing bonuses for jobs starting 3-4 months after graduation – is an unfunded liability, as it were. That’s why more and more students are discovering ways to travel and earn money at the same time – working on cruise ships, couriering, or even teaching English. Teaching English is especially lucrative as English is perceived globally as a kind of bridge to the global upper middle class regardless of nationality. And when it comes to making money for traveling by teaching English, Europe and Japan are standouts.

English teachers with TEFL training or certification can make upwards of $100/hr for class time or tutoring by virtue of the TEFL designation in Japan and Europe. Luckily for Americans, since most Britons and their English-speaking brethren around Europe take their travels before or doing university, they often don’t have the credentials to take these high-paying English-teaching jobs and so aren’t able to pay for travel through work in the same way that Americans can should an American decide to undergo TEFL certification.

Being a teacher of English in Europe is therefore an under-the-radar way to pay for what could be endless globetrotting on a frugal budget. Since teachers are paid in local currency as well, it is also easier for teachers of English to ESOL students to afford local costs of living, whereas workers in the hospitality industry – many of whom are paid by foreign national companies – are paid in dollars, which, of course, don’t go the distance they used to.

For those looking to take a trip to discover what they love, to explore the world at an age of little responsibility, or to wait out what is – in the eyes of those capable of looking past the red and black numbers – a recession, then working while traveling is the way to go. And if working while traveling is a dream of yours, then getting a TEFL certification that will allow you to secure high-paying jobs teaching English almost wherever you go is probably one of the best decisions you will ever make. (That is, of course, until you decide to blow off the whole ‘career’ thing for good!)

MOVING FROM CHINA TO USA

Finally, the time had come to retire and I was left with the big question: Did I want to live out my days in the land I’d come to love this past twenty years or did I want to return to the US of A, my birth place and home of my remaining family?

After months of sleepless nights, soul searching and emails back and forth to my daughter, I had finally decided to move back to my original home. Having moved overseas twenty years ago you would think I’d have found it an easy task. But you would be wrong. My wife had organized the whole move back then. She was no longer with me. And so much had changed in the last twenty years; I didn’t know where to start. The task seemed monumental.

Until a close friend said to me, “Get with the program Ed…use the Internet.”
“Okay,” I said. But I was skeptical. The same friend said to Google ‘international moving company.’ What I found totally took me by surprise - you could have knocked me over with a feather! All I had to do was put my country of residence, China, and my destination, USA, into a form and a bunch of international moving companies came up on the screen. They all offered free quotes so I got one from every one on that list.

Now, I believe in being frugal, but to me it was more important to make sure my precious possessions, most of which were bought with my wife when she was alive, got to the USA in one piece and not go missing somewhere along the way. So I researched every one of the international moving companies in the Better Business Bureau and epinions, again on the advice of my friend. The international moving company I chose was priced in the middle, but its license was in order and it had a good reputation.

So a date was set for the international moving company of my choice to show up and pack up my house. Once the details were all set, my feelings were bitter-sweet. I wanted to stay, yet I wanted to go. China, land of ancient wisdom, timeless culture and polite society had been the only home for me these past twenty years and the place where I had scattered the ashes of my beloved wife. How could I leave?

I took my wallet from my back pocket and dug out some pictures. Looking up at me were the smiling faces of my daughter, and my precious grandchildren. There was my reason for leaving.

China would always live in my heart and a chunk of my heart would always live in China. But the USA was where my future lay – in the eyes of my grandchildren.

Water damage is a very common problem in most older homes these days, but most of it can be avoided if you simply know what to look for. You should do your best to safeguard the investment that is your home and making sure that the interior does not become water damaged to the point that it cannot be repaired without a large sum of money and quite a lot of work is important. Avoiding the causes of water damage is the best thing that you can do to prevent this.

When your bath tub, toilet, or washing machine overflows, you probably are not thinking about the integrity of the structure of your home. To you, this is probably just a big inconvenience most of the time, but the truth is that if you let it happen over and over, it could do some serious damage to your floor and lower walls. It is alright to be a little forgetful every now and then, but try to pay attention to these things.

The steam in the bathroom and kitchen can cause problems for the ceiling and walls, since steam is composed of water vapor. This adheres to your walls and ceilings and keeps them moist almost constantly, which will eventually discolor them and cause mold to grow. Mold is a problem all by itself, but it seems to go hand in hand with water damage. Purchase a steam vent for the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and the basement and have those installed either by you or a professional to help keep the humidity in the home down.

Rain gutters need to be cleaned out as often as necessary, although this is usually every fall. These collect rain water and channel them down through downspouts that will carry the water away from the foundation of your house. If they are not cleared out, then the water simply falls to the ground at the base of the house and tends to settle in pockets, which can seep down into your basement and cause cracks in the walls.

Keeping your hot water heater checked on is also a good idea. It should be installed on the lowest floor of your house and sit elevated off the floor in a drain pan connected to the water system of your house. If it starts to leak, the water will be transferred to your home’s plumbing system instead of all over your floor.

The bathroom and the kitchen are the two rooms of our homes that, when remodeled, can add the most significant amount of value to it. They are the two centers of our houses, whether we realize it or not. A good house is usually inspected by a few different factors and these two are generally the focal points of many home buyers. Home buyers want to know if a property has a good kitchen and if it has a good bathroom. Depending on what they see, it can make or break a sale.

Unsightly water damage can usually be prevented to either area of the home unless it is caused by mother nature, such as flood or hurricane damage. What can you do to prevent water damage to the two most important rooms of your home..? Similar things can be done in each room to help keep the value of your home from going down.

Taking a bath or boiling water on the stove gives off steam, but there is not always a way for the steam to get out of the room if there is no vent installed. There should be a vent with a fan in each bathroom of the house and the kitchen, as well, to keep the steam from being absorbed by the walls. Drywall that has been damaged in this way usually starts to sag after a while because it has absorbed so much water and not only this, but mold will start to grow on walls that catch steam like this, as well. This is the perfect environment for mold to grow in.

Any plumbing in your bathroom or kitchen needs to be checked on a regular basis for cracks or weak spots in its connections. Anything in your house that uses water coming from the water system in your home needs to be checked on regularly to make sure the chance of a leak sneaking up on you is minimal. Some leaks can sneak up on you while you are away from home or asleep at night, but a lot of time it is caused by just not keeping an eye on worn hoses or damaged pipes.

Sometimes a water heater is located in a pantry or in an area near the kitchen, so keeping a check on this is a good idea, too. The water heater should be set inside of a drain pan that is connected to the water system of your home so that if it does leak, any water is directed down into the septic tank or the sewer.

Although molds growing unchecked can be harmful to human health, molds that are grown in laboratories for specific purposes have been used extensively for many years in order to improve the quality of life.

Penicillin as we know it today was discovered accidentally when Alexander Fleming saw a plate of Staphylococcus aureus had become contaminated by a blue-green mold. He noted that colonies of the bacteria next to the mold were being destroyed by it; he soon after grew a pure culture of the mold and found that penicillin killed not only Staphylococcus, but many other bacteria that cause disease. He named it penicillin, published the results of his experiment in 1929, and the medical community has been using it ever since.

Molds are also used to make different kinds of cheeses, including bleu cheese. Bleu cheese in particular is rumored to have been discovered by accident and since molds are not generally associated with good food, there is good reason for this assumption. Early cheeses were aged inside caves and these places often contained the perfect conditions for mold to grow in.

Without molds, we would have neither bread nor beer and even butchers inject mold into animals before they butcher them for preservation. Aspergillus oryzae is used in Japan to convert the starch in rice into sugar in order to make the traditional alcoholic beverage of sake. Red yeast rice is also made by being cultivated with a mold called Monascus purpureus and was used as a natural food coloring before the discovery of modern chemical food coloring.

Agriculturally, molds also help to decompose different kinds of natural debris such as taking care of the leftovers from forest fires and begin building a base for new plants and trees to grow on. Decaying organic matter is also eaten by mold and thus they are the natural recyclers of the world. If it is organic in origin and needs to be gotten rid of, overtime mold can accomplish this task.

Something most people outside the medical community don’t realize is that if a medicine’s name has the ending of “mycin”, it was made using mold

Mold only becomes a problem if it begins to inhabit the same places that humans and their domesticated animals inhabit. If they remain in a checked status, they do us next to no harm and as shown here, can even provide civilization with many benefits.

You might not know it, but the circuit board in your laptop and any other electronic items in your house were rinsed in clean water and dried before they were put into use? As long as the water is clean, the device will not be irreparably damaged. If something is allowed to soak in dirty water, however, with different particles and other mineral content, then the device will become damaged.

If you have a laptop that has gotten wet, the first thing to do is to turn it off immediately and remove all sources of power from it including the A/C adapter and batteries. Set these aside while you take the laptop and turn it upside down. This will stop any more liquid from seeping further into the computer.

After you do that, use paper towels or a rag to mop up the liquid that was spilled, wipe the liquid off the keyboard and the outside. Also wipe down anything else electronic nearby that got wet, too, like an external CD-ROM or external hard drive.

Disassemble the laptop (take a look at your user’s manual, too) and allow the insides to air out for at least a full day. Most people who have gone through this procedure recommend longer, especially if the liquid got further down into the computer. The best thing to do is let it sit and dry until you are confident that the interior is completely moisture-free.

If the only liquid it came into contact with was water out of your faucet, then allowing it to dry should be all that is necessary, but if it was something like soda, tea, or coffee that was spilled onto it, then you will want to clean it with some rubbing alcohol. You can use cotton swabs for this. Do not apply any heat to the device while you are cleaning it with alcohol and wait until the smell of alcohol is completely gone before you try to power it up.

Put the device back together after you are finished letting it dry or cleaning it up. Reattach the battery and see if it powers on. If it does, wait and see if it starts up as it should. If it does not, then attach the A/C adapter and plug it up. If you can turn the device on after trying this, then all you should need is a new battery. This should be pretty easy to obtain, as long as you have the money to purchase it with, either from the manufacturer or from a site like eBay.
